The Menotre Valley offers walks blending archaeology and nature. The village of Pale, famous for its sport climbing walls, preserves a 13th-century hermitage nestled in the rock and overlooks the waterfalls of the Menotre river, whose power was harnessed during the Middle Ages to produce the paper used to print the very first copy of Dante's Divine Comedy.
Rasiglia, a tiny village along the valley, is the realm of water and weaving, with its fresh springs and ancient textile looms.

The Way of Saint Benedict

The Castoriana Valley, within the Monti Sibillini National Park, home to one of the most fascinating abbeys in central Italy: S. Eutizio.
From here, in the 4th century AD, a religious ideal began and flourished, which was spread a few decades later by Saint Benedict. The trail starts at the abbey and, following a gentle and engaging path, arrives in Norcia, the cradle of Western spirituality.

The Mountain of Saint Francis

The Eremo delle Carceri, nestled in a centuries-old holm oak forest where the Poor Man of Assisi retreated with his companions, is a major destination for pilgrims and a sacred site par excellence. The itinerary connects two of Umbria's most evocative towns: Assisi and Spello.

The Spoleto - Norcia Railway

A masterpiece of engineering from the last century, this narrow-gauge railway, decommissioned in 1968, connected the cities of Spoleto and Norcia, overcoming considerable height gaps through spiral tunnels and daring viaducts.
Today, you can hike the first and most entertaining part of this stunning track up to S. Anatolia di Narco, ending the excursion with a pleasant tasting of local products.

In the Footsteps of Sagrantino

A three-day program (with the option to choose just 1 or 2 walks) to discover and appreciate one of Italy's most famous and excellent wines, packed with tastings and guided tours of characteristic hamlets.
Day 1: Easy hike (three hours) through the hills of Collemancio and Cannara. Followed by a visit to a typical Sagrantino winery and a lunch featuring typical Umbrian products and local wines. In the afternoon, a guided tour of the town of Bevagna.
Day 2: Easy hike (four hours) along the ridge between Bettona and Gualdo Cattaneo. Followed by a visit to a traditional Umbrian farm. Setting up and lighting a charcoal kiln. Packed picnic. In the afternoon, transfer to Montefalco for a guided tour of the town.
Day 3: Intermediate hike (four hours) on the trails of Mount Subasio. Followed by a visit to a winery producing fine red wines. Free picnic. In the afternoon, a guided tour of the charming Umbrian village of Spello with a tasting of local olive oil.


Mount Tezio and its Ice House

About ten kilometers from the main city begins the excursion to the "Mountain of Perugia." A pleasant walk through the woods leads to the summit of Mount Tezio (960 mt.), where archaeological excavations are currently bringing to light ancient Umbrian settlements.
The itinerary continues just below the peak, where the ancient ice houses ("neviere") have been perfectly restored. Used since the last century to collect winter snow, they provided ice to prepare ice cream and cold drinks during the summer season.

The Montegiove Loop: Hamlets and Castles around Marsciano

Montegiove is a small settlement set in a panoramic position among the rolling hills of Marsciano.
The loop trail, crossing easy dirt tracks followed by a minor final climb, leads to the first stop: an ancient pre-Etruscan high settlement with breathtaking views stretching all the way to the Cliff of Orvieto. Walking along a beautiful shaded path inside the woods, we return to Montegiove. Here, you can enjoy a tasting of local products for 10 euros and visit the 13th-century castle of the same name, former residence of the condottiero Gattamelata, now perfectly restored. The rooms where Blessed Angelina of Foligno lived and founded her first convent still preserve furniture and testimonies from distant eras.

Polvese Island: The Island That Connects

A loop excursion around the entire perimeter of the island.
This perfectly peaceful walk is particularly interesting during the off-season, especially in May, when the oleander avenues and the spectacular park of oriental floral species reach their full splendor.
The entire route is a succession of remarkable tree species. The view of the Castle from the path below the landing dock is highly evocative.

Day 1: Intermediate hike (four hours) on Mount Subasio with a visit to the Eremo delle Carceri. In the afternoon, a guided tour of Spello and organic olive oil tasting at a local producer.
Day 2: Easy hike (four hours) to the abandoned village of Sensati in Valnerina, with the possibility of crossing over to Spoleto. In the afternoon, a guided tour of Spoleto.
Day 3: Easy hike (three hours) to Collemancio-Limigiano-Castelbuono. In the afternoon, a guided tour of Montefalco and Bevagna with Sagrantino wine tasting at a local producer.

From Serravalle di Norcia, on the edge of the Monti Sibillini National Park, guided runs suitable for all ages. You can explore untouched natural corners and discover places that stir emotions with their sheer beauty. During the descent, the striking and majestic Biselli Gorges will suddenly appear from thick, lush forest vegetation. At the end, a pleasant keepsake of the day will be available: a CD with photos and video clips of the run.
